Job overview and responsibilities
Individuals are selected for this role based on high-performance, high-potential and a willingness to lead and develop peers. They have direct oversight of daily operations to ensure the highest level of product delivery in accordance with Company guidelines and the United Leadership Model. Focus will be on coaching supervisors, frontline employees and/or administrative employees plus developing themselves as leaders. Recognized as experts in operational, administrative and technical areas of the operation.
The Assistant Manager will support Finance & Administration, Resource Planning and Employee Dependability & Labor. This could include financial and capital planning and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, long- and short-term resource planning and bidding, employee service center activities, transition duty assignments, and other duties as assigned.
Team Leadership
- Oversee and support the performance of the Airport Operations Business Office
- Develop and support continuous improvement processes and initiatives
- Provide supervisors and frontline with regular coaching, feedback and recognition as appropriate
- Provide technical guidance and interpret Company guidelines and procedures to support employees in functional tasks and to ensure that safety, security and service are delivered consistently
- Mentoring supervisors and administrative employees
- Act as backup for the operation when Manager is on vacation or out of station
Performance Management
- Assist in tracking and analyzing departmental performance
- Set expectations regarding performance standards for supervisors, frontline employees and/or administrative employees and gain their commitment in accordance with Company guidelines and union
- agreements (if applicable)
- Lead performance dialogues with employees to review metrics, performance and issue resolution
- Address inappropriate behavior and performance issues with coaching and specific feedback
- Support investigations (as appropriate) into performance, safety, complaints and other work-related issues
Administration
- Maintain regular and prompt communication to include attending local meetings, townhalls, RAP sessions, e-mail/voicemail follow-up, and incident reports
- Seek cost-reduction opportunities and monitor controllable expenses
- Manage projects
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ years of equivalent work experience (with a High School Diploma or GED/Education equivalent)
- Achieves Plus or Outstanding previous year-end performance rating (Internal employees)
- Two (2) years experience in Supervisor (L6) position, proficient in scheduling, payroll and performance management systems to support frontline employees
- Knowledge of Airport Operations policies and Business Office procedures including collective bargaining agreements, vendor management, finance, and resource planning.
- Strong written and oral communication
- Conflict resolution and decision-making
- Proficient in appropriate work group and office productivity software (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
