SNACK BAR / COUNTER ATTENDANT
Position Title: Maintenance / Utility / Dishwasher
Department: Back of House / Support Operations
Reports To: Shift Lead / General Manager
Location: Taste City – Terminal 1 (SFO)
Status: Full-Time / Part-Time
Classification: Union Position – Unite Here Local 2
Schedule: Must be available early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Hourly wage: $23.34 per hour
(depends on seniority and progression per CBA wage schedule)


Position Summary
The Maintenance / Utility / Dishwasher position supports overall restaurant operations by maintaining cleanliness, performing dishwashing duties, removing trash, stocking products, and assisting kitchen staff as needed. This role is critical for ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment that supports efficient food service.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment according to sanitation standards
  • Clean and maintain dishwashing area, floors, drains, trash bins, and back-of-house spaces
  • Remove garbage and recycling to appropriate disposal areas throughout shift
  • Deep clean kitchen equipment, storage, and work areas as scheduled
  • Stock products including paper goods, beverages, ingredients, and smallwares
  • Assist with deliveries and properly store items using FIFO rotation
  • Maintain safe and hazard-free work environment
  • Support kitchen staff during busy periods as needed
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene policies at all times
  • Operate cleaning machinery safely (dish machine, mop sink, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen and management team

Qualifications

  • Previous utility / dishwasher / cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
  • Comfortable working in hot and wet environments
  • Fast-paced work ethic; able to multitask under pressure
  • Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
  • Able to follow instructions and safety procedures

Work Environment

  • Commercial kitchen and back-of-house setting
  • Constant standing, bending, lifting, and moving
  • Exposure to hot equipment and cleaning chemicals
  • Fast-paced and physically demanding
